Patrick Vaccariello is a leading music director and conductor on Broadway, having supervised five consecutive Tony Awards telecasts, from 2014 to 2018. He recently conducted the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center’s Spring Gala Concert w/Patti LuPone. He has also conducted at the Kennedy Center Honors and for Ms. LuPone’s performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
Mr. Vaccariello is currently supervising and conducting Hugh Jackman’s 2019 World Tour. He served as vocal coach for the feature film The Greatest Showman and has worked extensively with Mr. Jackman since 2003, serving as music director for The Boy from Oz on Broadway as well as the Australian concert arena tour, Hugh Jackman: Broadway to Oz.
He will be the musical director of the new production of The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman, opening on Broadway in 2020. Patrick Vaccariello’s many Broadway credits include On Your Feet, Cabaret (2014 and 1998 revivals), Annie, Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway, West Side Story, Come Fly Away, Lend Me a Tenor, Gypsy (with both Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters), A Chorus Line, La Cage aux Folles, Dance of the Vampires, Jesus Christ Superstar, Victor / Victoria, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cats, and Take Me Along. He was also music director for the Radio City Spring Spectacular.
Internationally, Mr. Vaccariello has conducted The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber worldwide (including at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People), Cabaret at Paris’s Theatre Marigny, and A Chorus Line in London’s West End. He was featured in the film Every Little Step: The Making of the Chorus Line Revival and has conducted numerous cast recordings, including the Grammy Award–winning West Side Story as well as Cabaret, A Chorus Line, Gypsy, and The Boy from Oz. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Patrick Vaccariello received the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
Patrick also gives seminars and has taught at such prestigious institutions as Yale University and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and Steinhardt Graduate Program. He also volunteers his time with local community choirs and has done this for several years with the Harlem Village Academies. He has included local community choirs and music groups worldwide into every performance on the current World Tour with Hugh Jackman.
