Camp Programs

Camp Programs

All students will participate in a wide variety of daily musical and theatrical workshops to enhance their skills in each discipline.  During the first week of camp, part of the camper’s experience will include rehearsing for their performance alongside Broadway stars and a full orchestra in the Festival’s opening Broadway Concert!  Our instructors are leading professionals in their fields and the camp will culminate in a spectacular showcase featuring the campers’ newly-honed talents.

Campers will be working in three groups:
Arts Academy: Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
Performing Artists: Rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders
College Intensive: Rising college Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors

All of our campers will train in the following disciplines:

Acting & Improvisation

In the daily workshops, students will discover their strengths and capabilities as an actor. This part of the program will focus on developing the skills of a young actor with technique in scene work, monologues and improvisational skills all led by a renowned Acting Instructor with a passion for bringing the best and the brightest potential out of aspiring actors.

mic 1Musical Theater

Students will work with a leading Broadway Music Director to hone their skills in singing and performing in the style of Musical Theater. They will have daily workshops where they learn vocal technique, audition tips, various singing styles and gain a vast understanding of Broadway musicals. Each student will have the opportunity to sing and receive individual feedback by the Musical Director.

Orff: Percussion Music

Have you ever wanted to jam out on the conga drum? Maybe the bongos? Campers will learn to play a wide variety of percussion and mallet instruments including xylophones, glockenspiels, conga drums, and hand drums. Part of the workshop will be learning from the famed “Orff Approach” developed by composer Carl Orff. It combines music, movement, drama, and speech. Students will also compose and perform their very own work as well as learn how to play in a large percussion ensemble!

hands outDance & Movement

As part of our daily schedule, all campers will participate in a fun and energetic warmup to get ready for a full day of activities! Not a pro in dance? No problem! Even students with little experience will walk away from the program with a new appreciation for movement and the technique behind it, not to mention some moves of their own. Campers with more experience in dance will have an opportunity to hone their skills all under the direction of a Broadway Choreographer!

Hodge Podge Class

Since the spectrum of the Fine Arts is so wide, we at the Pocono Mountains Music Festival are dedicated to bringing the most comprehensive experience to our students by introducing them to every facet of the arts! Led by the multi-talented performer and artist, Shayla Benoit, we like to have one class out of the day that is always different that incorporates a wide variety of theatrical and musical opportunities. We are appropriately calling this our “Hodge Podge” Class. It is a chance for each student to identify a creative strength that they have and give them a chance to express it!
